Winter wonders in the Weinviertel
Enjoy the colder months in the Weinviertel
Pressing houses blanketed with snow, long winter strolls and special events make the Weinviertel a place to really enjoy winter, away from the crowded ski resorts and cities.
In winter, walks through the snow-covered landscape in the Weinviertel are a firm fixture on the programme. Ice skating spots offer a fun afternoon for children. And relaxation and rejuvenation can be found at the Weinviertel’s only spa, Therme Laa.
Highlights
In winter it is quiet in the Weinviertel, and there is time for contemplation. The Weinviertler Advent provides the opportunity to properly enjoy the anticipation before Christmas – visitors can sip Weinviertel mulled wine and enjoy open sandwiches on locally baked bread, topped with dripping, or Kellergatsch – the cellar’s own home-made spread.
From sweet to savoury
Alongside treats including sweet breads, Weinviertel Christmas cookies and Wuchteln traditional brioche squares, in winter savoury comfort food is on offer too: Weinviertel blood sausage, root vegetable stews, or a real Weinviertel speciality – Wuchteln with beans.
